iPhone Jailbreak – Jailbreak Tools That Support Sileo

Compare the tools. Check your device. Choose a compatible jailbreak.

Project sources reviewed September 21, 2026 · Independent compatibility guide

Looking for an iPhone jailbreak that supports Sileo?

Sileo is a modern package manager used on jailbroken iPhones and iPads to install tweaks, themes, utilities, libraries, and other packages from jailbreak repositories.

But Sileo itself doesn't jailbreak your iPhone.

You first need a jailbreak compatible with your exact device and iOS version. The jailbreak creates the required environment, while Sileo lets you manage packages inside it.

This guide helps you identify public jailbreak tools that support Sileo, compare their compatibility, and find the correct download source.

Important: iOS version alone isn't enough to determine jailbreak compatibility. Your iPhone/iPad model, processor, exact firmware version, and sometimes bootstrap environment also matter.

Which Jailbreak Should I Use?

Start by checking:

Settings → General → About

Write down your:

  • Device model
  • iOS or iPadOS version
  • Build number

Then find a jailbreak that explicitly supports that combination.

Don't download a jailbreak simply because its name appears in this guide.

For example, a jailbreak that supports iOS 16 on an older processor doesn't necessarily support every iPhone running iOS 16.

The general installation path is:

Compatible device → compatible jailbreak → bootstrap → Sileo → repositories → tweaks

Already know which jailbreak you need? Use the sections below.

Dopamine Jailbreak + Sileo

Dopamine is a modern rootless jailbreak with Sileo support.

It is a rootless, semi-untethered jailbreak, and Sileo is available as part of the Dopamine package-management environment.

A rootless jailbreak doesn't rely on modifying the sealed system volume in the same way as traditional rootful jailbreaks.

Why use Dopamine?

Dopamine is particularly useful for supported devices because it provides:

  • Rootless jailbreak architecture
  • Sileo package management
  • Tweak injection
  • Repository support
  • Semi-untethered operation
  • Modern jailbreak package compatibility

After a full reboot, you generally need to run the jailbreak again before jailbreak tweaks become active.

Use this source for Dopamine downloads and compatibility information.

Do not assume that an unsupported newer iOS release will work just because the Dopamine application can be installed.

Installing Sileo with Dopamine

Once Dopamine successfully creates the jailbreak environment, Sileo can be installed/provisioned through the jailbreak's package-manager setup.

After installation:

Open Sileo → refresh sources → install essential updates → add trusted repositories → install compatible tweaks

Project source: Dopamine downloads and documentation ↗.

palera1n Jailbreak + Sileo

palera1n is a checkm8-based jailbreak for older Apple hardware.

Unlike many software-based jailbreaks, palera1n benefits from a BootROM vulnerability affecting specific processors.

That makes hardware compatibility particularly important.

palera1n supports A8 through A11 devices on supported modern firmware.

Examples of relevant devices include older iPhones and iPads built around those processors.

palera1n + Sileo

After successfully jailbreaking, you can install Sileo through the palera1n loader.

The typical flow is:

palera1n → jailbreak → palera1n loader → Sileo → repositories → tweaks

Download palera1n

Download palera1n from GitHub →

Important palera1n limitation

palera1n is not a universal jailbreak for modern iPhones.

An iPhone with a newer processor doesn't become compatible merely because its iOS version falls inside a range supported on older hardware.

Device hardware matters.

nathanlr + Sileo

nathanlr is another modern jailbreak-related environment with Sileo support.

Its installation workflow uses TrollStore on supported configurations. After installation, the nathanlr application can bootstrap the environment and place Sileo on the Home Screen.

This is not a universal jailbreak for every iPhone.

Use it only when your exact device and firmware are listed as compatible.

Amethyst Jailbreak + Sileo

Amethyst targets older iOS environments and provides Sileo and Zebra after a successful jailbreak.

It is useful primarily for people maintaining legacy iPhones and iPads rather than users of the newest firmware.

Amethyst and Sileo

After successfully running Amethyst:

Amethyst → jailbreak → Sileo/Zebra → repositories → compatible tweaks

Because Amethyst is semi-untethered, restarting the device removes the active jailbreak state until the appropriate rejailbreak process is performed.

Download Amethyst

Download Amethyst →

Use the project's GitHub release/download source rather than third-party IPA mirrors.

Before installing, confirm your exact device and firmware are supported.

Taurine Jailbreak + Sileo

Taurine is a semi-untethered jailbreak associated primarily with the iOS 14 generation.

It uses the Procursus bootstrap and integrates naturally with Sileo.

For supported iOS 14 devices, Taurine remains an important part of the Sileo ecosystem.

Taurine features

Taurine provides:

  • Sileo
  • Procursus bootstrap
  • Tweak injection
  • Jailbreak repositories
  • Semi-untethered operation

Odyssey Jailbreak + Sileo

Odyssey is another jailbreak from the Odyssey ecosystem and was designed primarily around iOS 13.

Sileo is integrated with the Odyssey environment.

Odyssey uses Procursus and provides a modern alternative to some of the package-management environments associated with earlier jailbreaks.

Download Odyssey

Download Odyssey from GitHub →

Odyssey is primarily relevant to users intentionally keeping older devices on supported iOS 13 firmware.

Project source: Odyssey downloads and documentation ↗.

Odysseyra1n + Sileo

Odysseyra1n combines the checkra1n jailbreak environment with the Procursus bootstrap and Sileo.

It is particularly relevant for users searching for:

  • checkra1n Sileo
  • Sileo instead of Cydia
  • Procursus Sileo
  • Odysseyra1n
  • Sileo checkra1n

The basic relationship is:

checkra1n → Odysseyra1n → Procursus → Sileo

This is a legacy-oriented setup and shouldn't be confused with modern rootless jailbreaks such as Dopamine.

Use the Odysseyra1n project documentation and GitHub resources for the appropriate installation process.

Project source: Odysseyra1n downloads and documentation ↗.

Chimera Jailbreak + Sileo

Chimera is an older semi-untethered jailbreak primarily associated with iOS 12.

It was an important jailbreak for Sileo because Sileo was provided as its package manager rather than relying on the traditional Cydia experience.

Chimera + Sileo

The normal environment provides:

Chimera → jailbreak → Sileo → repositories → tweaks

Chimera remains relevant mainly for people using legacy devices on compatible firmware.

Use the project's established GitHub/open-source resources where available rather than downloading modified IPA files from unknown mirrors.

Project source: Chimera downloads and documentation ↗.

Electra Jailbreak + Sileo

Electra belongs to the iOS 11 jailbreak generation.

It is now primarily of interest to people maintaining legacy jailbroken devices.

Sileo became closely associated with the Electra ecosystem and is recognized as one of the jailbreak environments where Sileo has been provided.

If your device is on much newer firmware, Electra isn't the appropriate choice.

Always match the jailbreak to the firmware rather than choosing a jailbreak based on familiarity with its name.

Project source: Electra downloads and documentation ↗.

checkra1n + Sileo

checkra1n is one of the most significant historical jailbreaks because it is based on the checkm8 BootROM exploit.

Cydia was traditionally closely associated with checkra1n, but Sileo can also be used in compatible checkra1n environments.

One established route is Odysseyra1n:

checkra1n → Odysseyra1n → Procursus → Sileo

This is particularly relevant if you're maintaining an older checkm8-compatible device.

Download checkra1n

Download checkra1n →

Use the project's GitHub resources and documented release channels rather than third-party repackaged downloads.

If your device can run newer palera1n or Dopamine environments, compare those options before choosing a legacy setup.

Project source: checkra1n downloads and documentation ↗.

unc0ver + Sileo

unc0ver is another major historical jailbreak.

Cydia was traditionally the default package manager, but Sileo can also be added to compatible unc0ver environments.

That means:

  • unc0ver + Cydia
  • and
  • unc0ver + Sileo

are not necessarily mutually exclusive concepts.

However, don't follow an old Sileo installation procedure on a newer unsupported unc0ver environment without verifying the bootstrap and package compatibility.

Use the project's GitHub resources for jailbreak files rather than unofficial download mirrors.

Rootless vs Rootful Jailbreak

You'll frequently encounter these terms while choosing a jailbreak.

Rootless Jailbreak

Modern jailbreaks increasingly use a rootless architecture.

Rather than writing directly to the sealed system volume, jailbreak components and tweaks operate through locations intended for the jailbreak environment.

Dopamine and modern palera1n configurations are important examples.

Check rootless tweak compatibility before installing packages.

A tweak created for an older rootful jailbreak doesn't automatically work in a rootless environment.

Rootful Jailbreak

Older jailbreak architectures commonly provided broader modification of the root filesystem.

Many legacy tweaks were originally built for these environments.

Do not install an old rootful package into a modern rootless jailbreak unless the package developer specifically provides compatibility.

Semi-Untethered vs Semi-Tethered Jailbreak

Another important difference is what happens after restarting your iPhone.

Semi-Untethered

A semi-untethered jailbreak lets the iPhone boot normally after a restart.

However, jailbreak functionality is disabled until you run the jailbreak application again.

Dopamine and several older app-based jailbreaks use this general model.

Semi-Tethered

A semi-tethered jailbreak also allows the device to boot without the jailbreak, but returning to the jailbroken state requires assistance from a computer or another external boot process.

palera1n is an important example.

This matters if you regularly restart your device.

Which Jailbreak Supports My iPhone?

Don't select a jailbreak based only on your iPhone name.

Compatibility usually depends on:

iPhone/iPad model + processor + exact iOS version + jailbreak version

For example:

Two iPhones running the same iOS version can have completely different jailbreak options because they use different processors.

Likewise, the same iPhone model running two different firmware versions may have different jailbreak availability.

Start with:

Settings → General → About

and identify your exact configuration.

Then compare it with the project's documented compatibility.

Can I Jailbreak the Latest iOS?

Not necessarily.

New iOS versions frequently patch vulnerabilities used by existing jailbreaks.

A jailbreak supporting an earlier version doesn't automatically provide Sileo support on iOS 27.

Be particularly skeptical of websites advertising:

  • Universal iOS jailbreak
  • One-click jailbreak for every iPhone
  • Jailbreak any iOS version
  • Instant online jailbreak
  • Jailbreak profile
  • Sileo without jailbreak

A web clip, configuration profile, or Sileo-style interface isn't automatically a real jailbreak.

Does Jailbreaking Install Sileo Automatically?

It depends on the jailbreak.

The appropriate Sileo download method depends on your jailbreak: some provide it directly, while others offer it through their loader or bootstrap.

Examples with strong Sileo integration include:

  • Dopamine
  • palera1n
  • nathanlr
  • Taurine
  • Odyssey
  • Odysseyra1n
  • Chimera

Other legacy jailbreak environments can support Sileo as an additional package manager.

Always use the package-manager method intended for your jailbreak.

What Can You Do After Installing Sileo?

Once your jailbreak is active and Sileo works correctly, you can use it to manage jailbreak packages.

Add Repositories

Repositories—or repos—contain the packages Sileo displays.

You can add Sileo repositories containing tweaks, themes, utilities, and libraries.

Install Jailbreak Tweaks

Tweaks modify supported parts of iOS.

Popular categories include:

  • Home Screen
  • Lock Screen
  • Control Center
  • Status Bar
  • Notifications
  • Keyboard
  • App interfaces
  • Gestures
  • Themes

Use Themes

Sileo repositories can also distribute themes and theming-related packages.

Always confirm compatibility with your iOS version and jailbreak architecture.

Sileo vs Cydia After Jailbreaking

Sileo and Cydia are package managers—not jailbreaks.

They help you manage repositories and packages after the jailbreak environment exists.

Sileo is strongly associated with modern jailbreak environments, while Cydia is historically associated with older jailbreak generations.

Some environments can run more than one package manager.

Is Jailbreaking Safe?

Jailbreaking changes aspects of Apple's normal security model and gives software capabilities that standard App Store applications don't normally have.

Reduce unnecessary risk by:

  • Backing up important data first
  • Using established jailbreak projects
  • Downloading from official project sources
  • Avoiding modified jailbreak IPA files
  • Avoiding pirated repositories
  • Checking tweak compatibility
  • Reading dependency changes before confirming installations
  • Keeping important recovery information available

A jailbreak being open source doesn't automatically make every tweak or repository you install safe.

Evaluate those separately.

Jailbreak Not Working?

Before repeatedly running another jailbreak tool, check the basics.

Jailbreak App Crashes

Confirm that your exact firmware is supported.

Also check whether the jailbreak application needs a particular signing or installation method.

Sileo Doesn't Appear

Some jailbreaks install Sileo automatically.

Others require you to open the jailbreak loader and select Sileo.

Check the documentation for your jailbreak.

Sileo Opens but Tweaks Don't Work

Your jailbreak may not currently be active, tweak injection may be disabled, or the tweak may be incompatible.

Check:

iOS version → rootless/rootful → dependencies → tweak compatibility

Jailbreak Disappeared After Reboot

This can be normal.

Semi-untethered and semi-tethered jailbreaks don't remain active following a complete restart.

Follow the rejailbreak procedure for your specific tool.

iPhone Jailbreak FAQ

What is an iPhone jailbreak?

A jailbreak uses vulnerabilities and other techniques to create an environment where supported software can operate beyond Apple's normal App Store restrictions. Package managers such as Sileo can then manage jailbreak packages.

Can I install Sileo without jailbreaking?

A website or application may provide a limited Sileo-style experience, but full jailbreak tweak functionality requires an appropriate jailbreak environment.

Can I use Sileo and Cydia together?

Some jailbreak environments can support multiple package managers, but compatibility depends on the bootstrap and packages involved.

Do all Sileo tweaks work on every jailbreak?

No. Individual tweaks can have requirements for particular iOS versions, processors, rootless/rootful architectures, dependencies, and tweak-injection systems.

Does jailbreaking survive a reboot?

It depends on the jailbreak type. Many current and historical Sileo-compatible jailbreaks require some form of rejailbreak after a complete restart.

Can I update iOS after jailbreaking?

Updating iOS can remove the active jailbreak and may move your device to firmware unsupported by existing jailbreak tools. Research compatibility before updating if maintaining jailbreak capability is important to you.

Start Your Sileo Jailbreak

The most important rule is simple:

Choose the jailbreak based on your device and firmware—not the other way around.

Start by checking:

Device → iOS version → compatible jailbreak → jailbreak type → Sileo support

Then use the jailbreak project's official download source.

Modern Jailbreaks
